Biography

I’m Irfan Qurashi — a multidisciplinary creative who blends the language of movement with the lens of media to tell stories that resonate.

With over 10 years as a hip-hop dance educator, I’ve always believed in the power of movement to communicate beyond words. That belief naturally evolved into videography, where I began capturing choreography not just as documentation, but as narrative. My experience behind and in front of the camera allows me to direct, film, and edit dance in a way that feels alive — work that’s been showcased by organizations like Dance Center Evanston, Trifecta Dance Collective, and Dance and Music Academy.

Each opportunity in the dance world became a doorway into content creation: conducting interviews with company directors, developing story-driven promotional videos, and building strategic social media campaigns. I used my camera to spotlight the emotion behind the movement, and my editing to shape how audiences experience performance in the digital space.

As a graduate student in Northwestern University’s MSLCE program, I’m refining the strategic and business skills needed to lead creative projects on a larger scale. I aim to become a Creative Director for boundary-pushing brands like Red Bull, Nike, or Sony — and ultimately open a fine arts school that celebrates cross-disciplinary storytelling, cultural accessibility, and artistic equity.

Whether on stage, behind the camera, or in the boardroom — I create to connect.

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

As a creative director, I bring stories to life through movement, visuals, and emotion. My approach blends artistic intuition with strategic communication, crafting concepts that resonate across dance, film, and branded media. Whether developing a campaign narrative or shaping the tone of a performance, I focus on connecting audiences to a clear creative vision that balances authenticity, innovation, and purpose.

DANCE

Rooted in hip-hop culture and community, my dance career has evolved from teaching choreography to directing performances that celebrate individuality and storytelling. Over the years, I’ve taught and performed across Chicago, mentoring students and creating spaces that honor both discipline and creativity. My classes emphasize musicality, foundation, and emotional expression—bridging commercial styles with the deeper cultural roots of hip-hop.
